The Snow Leopard Photography Tour is a 15 day photography expedition in search of one of the most elusive big cats in the world is scheduled for January 14-26, 2022.
There will be a maximum of 8 clients with two instructors and numerous local guides, translators, trackers, etc.
The first 2 “photography” days will be with the Eagle Hunters and their magnificent birds.
The 4th day is traveling and setting up the camp for our expedition in the mountains. We will be primarily trying to photograph the elusive Snow Leopard, aka Ghost Cat and the endangered Pallas Cat. There should be several more mammals and birds around to keep us busy. Even though wildlife is our primary purpose, plan to bring your favorite landscape lenses for wintery scenics.
We will spend the next eight days in the Altai Mountains photographing amazing animals, landscapes, stars. You name it, and we will click on it. We will have daily hikes to search for the wildlife. Not mountaineering level hikes, but the more we walk, the warmer we will be! 🙂
There are NO GUARANTEES about getting photography close or even getting close enough to see these elusive cats. Our trackers are in the cat’s territory a lot and do know how to find them. These animals are still wild, but they are accustomed to people being in their range. With luck and patience, we might be able to photograph within 200 meters!
The mountain camp is comfortably rustic. We will not have electricity or running water for the week we are in the mountains. We will have hot freshly prepared meals and snacks. It will be cold and it will be an experience that you’ll never forget, but a day at the Ritz is the polar opposite of our expedition.
We have two travel days to return to the lowlands, Ulaanbaatar, and then civilization, aka home!
The trip is all-inclusive except for International Airfare and the usual personal items and souvenirs you might buy. Bring extra cash for cashmere that is almost free there!
